The Osight X is a next-generation open reflex red dot sight developed by Osight (backed by Olight) for serious duty, defence and competition use. A 0.94" × 0.85" (≈24 × 21.5 mm) sight window gives an exceptionally wide field of view, allowing faster dot acquisition, clean tracking on transitions and better awareness around the gun – exactly what modern pistol shooters and dynamic carbine users demand.
At the heart of the optic is a multi-reticle system: choose between 3 MOA dot, 32 MOA circle or circle-dot to match your application – precise shots at distance, close-range speed, or a hybrid for duty/competition. Bright, crisp reticles are supported by 12 brightness levels (10 daylight + 2 NV) with both auto-sensing and manual control, plus a lockout mode for fixed brightness setups.
The Osight X’s signature feature is its patented magnetic charging cover. The included USB-C rechargeable cover clips over the optic, shows real-time battery level for both cover and sight, and can fully recharge the optic up to 3 times on a full charge – eliminating coin-cell swaps and making battery status instantly visible in the safe, locker or armory.
A sealed 170 mAh internal Li-Po battery powers the optic for up to 57,000 hours (dot-only, level 3), with motion-activation and 10-minute auto-shutoff to stretch runtime while keeping the sight “always ready” when the weapon moves.
The housing uses Osight’s proprietary OAL™ aluminium alloy, designed to rival the strength of titanium but remain nearly as light as 7075-T6. Combined with IPX6 waterproof rating on the optic and multi-coated lenses, the Osight X is built to handle aggressive training, duty carry and bad weather. Field testing has seen Osight models endure over 100,000 rounds while holding zero.
Using an RMR / Holosun 407c/507c footprint, the Osight X drops onto a huge range of optics-ready pistols, slides and adapter plates, and can be mounted to carbines or shotguns via RMR-pattern Picatinny mounts.
Key benefits
- Ultra-large window for speed – 0.94" × 0.85" window and multi-coated lens deliver a wide, bright field of view for rapid dot pickup and smooth transitions.
- True multi-reticle system – switch between 3 MOA dot, 32 MOA circle or circle-dot without re-zeroing, optimising for distance precision, CQB speed or both.
- Magnetic charging cover with live battery display – industry-first cover shows charge levels for optic and cover and can recharge the optic up to three times.
- No more coin cells – internal 170 mAh Li-Po and up to 57,000-hour runtime (dot-only, level 3) dramatically reduce battery maintenance and failure risk.
- Duty-grade OAL™ housing – proprietary aluminium alloy designed to be tougher than standard sight bodies while staying light on the slide.
- RMR footprint compatibility – mounts directly to common pistol optic cuts and RMR-pattern carbine mounts, simplifying integration across platforms.
- Optimised for professional use – auto-on motion sensor, auto-brightness, NV modes and long runtime support patrol pistols, duty carbines and defensive set-ups.

Pros & Cons
Pros
- Extremely large window improves speed, tracking and situational awareness versus many compact pistol dots.
- Multi-reticle (dot, circle, circle-dot) covers close-range, mid-range and training use without changing optics.
- Magnetic charging cover with live battery display removes guesswork and coin-cell changes – strong advantage for duty weapons.
- Long runtime and motion-activation keep the sight ready while minimising manual power management.
- RMR footprint means wide compatibility across slides, pistols and RMR-mount carbines or shotguns.
Cons
- Internal battery and cover-charging concept may be less attractive for users who prefer simple CR2032 swaps in the field.
- IPX6 rating is robust but not as high as fully sealed IPX7/IPX8 enclosed emitters for extreme submerged environments.
- Open emitter design remains more exposed to mud/snow than enclosed red dots, requiring realistic maintenance in harsh conditions.
